Cameo Pendant
This is my first design based on an old cameo pendant. Throughout history Cameos have been created for many different reasons, some were lovingly produced to celebrate an important relationship.
I made each pendant using clear glass and an oval shaped stainless steel cabochon tray. I print a tiny version of my painting on my fine art printer and cut it to the exact size of the pendant tray. Many layers of sealant were painted over it and dried over a number of days. The tiny print was then fixed to the back of a domed glass cabochon and these were then fixed to the stainless steel tray, using an adhesive that remains clear through the glass and does not discolour or damage the tiny print itself. As each piece was sealed and assembled by hand in this way, there are minor differences in each one.
The image size is approx 50mm length x 40mm width. The total pendant length (including the bail for hanging the pendant from a chain) is approx 65mm.
The pendant can be provided with a choice of different lengths of silver coloured chain or on a black cord chain for free. Or as I have done myself, it can be hung from your own sterling silver chain.
I have a nickel allergy and have to be very careful with jewellery or clothing clasps that touch my skin. So I have made every effort to source jewellery findings that are nickel-free and for sensitive skin. I advise people with skin sensitivities to wear this pendant with the same caution as you would any piece of costume or vintage jewellery.
